The U.S. Plastics Pact: A Path to a Cleaner Future & How Park Bench Naturals Supports the Mission
Plastic waste is one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time, and the U.S. Plastics Pact is working to fix this by bringing businesses, leaders, and groups together to cut down on plastic waste. At Park Bench Naturals, we share this commitment and are proud to offer products that align with the mission of the U.S. Plastics Pact.
What Is the U.S. Plastics Pact?

The U.S. Plastics Pact is a nationwide initiative that works to eliminate plastic waste and pollution through four key goals to be achieved by 2025:
- Eliminate Problematic and Unnecessary Plastics – Reducing single-use plastics and replacing them with sustainable alternatives.
- Ensure All Plastic Packaging Is Reusable, Recyclable, or Compostable – Encouraging businesses to rethink packaging design for a circular economy.
- Improve Collection and Recycling Rates – Expanding access to recycling infrastructure and improving processing systems.
- Increase the Use of Recycled Content – Ensuring plastic packaging contains at least 30% recycled or responsibly sourced material.
How are we doing with that?

The U.S. Plastics Pact has made some progress towards its 2025 targets, but the pact has now extended its deadline to 2030.
Reusable, recyclable, or compostable packaging: 50% of plastic packaging is now reusable, recyclable, or compostable, up from 47.7% in 2022. The target is 100% by 2030
Post-consumer recycled content: The average post-consumer recycled content in packaging is 11%, up from 9% in 2022. The target is 30% by 2030.
Sustainable packaging adoption: 50% of plastic packaging is now sustainable, up from 36% in 2021.
How Park Bench Naturals Supports These Goals
The U.S. Plastics Pact is a collaboration between over 100 consumer products brands, packaging companies, and retailers in the US. The pact’s goal is to create a circular economy for plastic by reducing plastic waste. We are onboard, are you?
At Park Bench Naturals, we believe in sustainability, and our products are thoughtfully designed to minimize plastic waste. Here’s how choosing our products can help support the goals of the U.S. Plastics Pact:
1. Eliminating Problematic Plastics

Many conventional personal care products come in excessive plastic packaging, much of which ends up in landfills. Park Bench Naturals eliminates unnecessary plastic by using eco-friendly alternatives, such as:
- Glass Bottles and Jars – Most of our products such as room sprays, body sprays, tooth powders and magnesium butter come in glass packaging, reducing reliance on single-use plastics.
- Lotion Stones – A solid, waterless alternative to bottled lotions, our Lotion Stones are zero waste and eliminate the need for plastic tubes and pumps.
2. Reusable, Recyclable, and Compostable Packaging
Our commitment to sustainable packaging means:
- We use recyclable materials whenever possible, such as glass and metal tins.
- We encourage customers to reuse or repurpose packaging before recycling.
- We avoid excessive plastic shrink wrap or unnecessary plastic components.
3. Supporting Better Recycling Practices
Unlike traditional plastic-heavy brands, we consciously choose materials that are easier to recycle. Glass is infinitely recyclable, and our minimal use of plastic helps reduce contamination in recycling streams.

4. Increasing the Use of Sustainable and Recycled Materials
We prioritize sustainable sourcing and packaging options, continually seeking ways to incorporate recycled and biodegradable materials into our products. In 2025 our lip balm tubes will be made from plant material!
